The Mane Choice made her a brand ambassador after her photo went viral.
I have to admit, when Rihanna first posted a photo of Ala’a Skyy on her Instagram grid, I thought the singer and makeup mogul had used the Snapchat filter that makes you look like a child. But when I found out Skyy is an actual seven-year-old human, I immediately said out loud to no one, “Get this kid an agent!” Well, it turns out Skyy didn’t need an agent to grab the attention of a major beauty brand.
An email sent to Allure announced that Skyy has landed her first major contract as an ambassador for The Mane Choice, a hair-care brand focused on natural texture. “Not only does she have an amazing attitude and work ethic at such a young age, she also loves her hair,” Mane Choice CEO and founder Courtney Adeleye said about the stunning little model. “She understands the benefits of using great products. It’s amazing!”
Skyy’s Instagram account run by her mother, Bria Baytops, features an adorable video of the seven-year-old holding two Mane Choice products and saying in a sing-songy tone, “I can’t wait to use my Tropical Moringa,” referring to the brand’s Tropical Moringa Sweet Oil & Honey Endless Moisture Collection, which features a shampoo, conditioner, mask, restorative spray, sealing cream, and braid-out glaze. (You’ve probably seen it at Target.) The caption expresses gratefulness for the new opportunity, reading, “One day you are using your favorite products because you love them and the next day you are using your favorite products and become their newest ambassador at the same time! Dreams really do come true, if you believe YOU deserve them!”
Although The Mane Choice is Skyy’s first contract it’s not the first time she’s caught the eye of someone in the beauty business. ET reports that supermodel Tyra Banks has personally invited Skyy to audition for a role in her project, Modelland. But Banks also had words of wisdom to share. “The best piece of advice is to really study hard at school and know that modeling will always be there. So make sure you finish school and make sure that you listen to your mom and get all your schoolwork done,” Banks told Skyy in a FaceTime call set up by the TV show. “Then once your schoolwork is done, then you can practice your model poses in the mirror. But not until the schoolwork is done.”
Skyy’s new gig already has her jet-setting like a major model. The brand has announced that she’ll be joining The Mane Choice at BeautyconLA this weekend and considering she now has nearly 140,000 Instagram followers there’s no doubt a lot of people will be excited to see the Rihanna mini-me in person.
